FIND YOURSELF A DREAM:
THE BOB LOVE STORY
2008 MidWest Emmy award winner!
Outstanding Achievement for Documentary Programs – Documentary of Current Significance
The life-affirming story of former Chicago Bulls legend
Bob Love, who lost everything after his career ended, but
rebuilt his life to fulfill a promise. Coming soon on PBS.
Bob “Butterbean” Love played for the Chicago Bulls in the
1960’s and 1970’s. He astonished fans with his uncanny ability
to score from anywhere on the court. During his amazing
career with the Bulls he racked up 12,623 points, a record
only broken by Michael Jordan. Then after 10 seasons, Bob
walked away from the game he loved and disappeared.
“Find Yourself A Dream – The Bob Love Story” is a one hour
documentary about the inspirational true story of NBA superstar
Bob “Butterbean” Love.
Suffering from a severe stuttering disability from an early
age, Bob Love, the son of a sharecropper, rose to become
a Chicago Bulls superstar. After a career ending injury
he was told by doctors that he would have difficulty walking.
His wife left him, stealing his medals and trophies, and
his life spiraled out of control as he ended up penniless,
working as a busboy at a Seattle restaurant.
Yet Bob is presently the Community Relations Director for
the Chicago Bulls. After overcoming his most formidable
opponent, his stuttering, he is also one of the most sought
after motivational speakers in the country. This documentary
chronicles the amazing story of his recovery and salvation.
Bob’s life is depicted through interviews, archival basketball
footage and on-location scenes with family members, old
friends, fans and teammates. Bob Love’s perseverance and
triumph over adversity inspires people everywhere to achieve
their life goals, and the documentary features interviews
with Bulls superstar Michael Jordan, David Stern, Chicago
Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf, and other former and current
players.
Written and directed by award-winning director Jim White,
its message is about achieving one’s goals, no matter how
difficult, and the importance of an education in reaching
those goals. Horizons is proud to be collaborating with
America’s
Film Fund on distributing this production.
